Choose your own Ending Shawl Pattern

The design is up! Please be kind, as this is my first design, but it's very much up to you how to big or small your shawl ends up! You get to pick the yarn and needles to get a gauge and size you like. You can knit a lot or a little bit, depending on how much yarn, patience and time you have. You can put as many eyelet rows or as few as you like. It's really a Choose your own Adventure shawl and I'm so thrilled to be able to publish it and get feedback on it.

I'm available via Ravelry (yarnballa) or here for comments, help and feedback, so please don't hesitate!

A beautiful shawl. A very well-written and easy pattern! I also love the colour you have on it. It is rhabarber from wollmeise, isn't it? It is my favorite, and I luckily got a skein few days ago.

Why thank you! Yes, it's rhubarber from WM and it's my favorite color of yarn ever! Really amazing and it's lovely to knit with because the colors are amazing as they go through your fingers! Enjoy!

I've done a fair amount of very straight forward knitting and wanted to tackle something different. This looks very lovely but on reading the directions I don't understand why there isn't any cast on stitches. Am I missing something? Are you starting with the point? What does PM and SM mean? This only takes 1 skein and if I find the yarn suggested can I use another? Lots of questions I know but it is lovely and I would like to give it a try. Thank you

Hi Carol Lynn;

You didn't leave any contact info so I hope you come back to read this.

PM means Place Marker and SM means Slip Marker.

The first page has each 'section' written out and the second page has the instructions for the shawl, including the Cast On amount (7 stitches). I had to put instructions for each section in so that when people were choosing their own combination they could refer back to how to complete each of the garter, stockinette and eyelet sections.

You can knit until you run out of yarn, so you can use as many skeins of yarn that you like.

Hope this helps!

I just found your Choose Your Own Ending Shawl, but am having difficulty knowing what to do since the number of stitches on the Setup Rows totals 13 (not 15) and all following rows would then be "off." Don't know where to place markers nor do I know if final design will be correct. Can you help?
